Shear Rams are designed for the 13 5/8 "x 5000 psi (350 bar) / 10,000 psi (700 bar) type UZS01 and UZD 02 Blowout Preventers, as well as the 13 5/8" x 5000 psi (350 bar) / 10000 psi (700 bar) type UZD 04 Monoblock Blowout Preventers.
The Rams are designed to cut both tubular material (drill pipes, casing or tubing) and for total closure of the well.
The Pipes centering is done by special machining applied in the ram body. Oval rams shape provides the “self-sealing” effect, meaning that the pressure in the hole helps to achieve the rams sealing; after rams closing, the sealing is maintained even the drive fluid pressure is lost.
The rams for blowout preventers, or part of the monoblock blowout preventers, according to the working environment are manufactured in two versions:
